She Loves Me, She Really Loves Me

Friends, you’ve heard me whine many times about how cold Cakes is. Well, I’m excited to tell you, she is finally starting to show me some affection. We were sitting on the couch watching the news the other night and she voluntarily came and sat in my lap. She rested her head against my chest and snuggled in and my heart swelled.

You're not so bad mama.

***

I am always amazed at how observant Cakes is. I’m a bear in the morning, and I reach for my coffee even before I get Cakes her milk (awful, I know—but it’s like they tell you on the plane: put the mask on yourself first). Anyway, the other day, McHotty had morning duty. When I awoke, three hours later than he and Cakes, I stopped by her room, where they were playing, to say a quick good morning before I headed for the coffee pot. As soon as Cakes saw me, she scrambled to her table, retrieved her toy teapot and poured me a beverage. Ah, that’s my girl.

***

In addition to being nicer to me, Cakes is becoming very affectionate with her toys. She makes them cuddle together. She has several toys in her crib--sometimes when I come to her in the morning, she has them all lined up, side by side (I am making her wait a little longer each morning, trying to teach her to play by herself until a reasonable hour). She’s also sharing her friends with us a little more generously:

Oh, do I love her.

What a lady, making you work for those cuddles. I can't think of much that beats a cuddle from someone so cute.

PS - we have the same IKEA crib - I think the Diktad is the most popular one out there.

Unsolicited cuddles and snuggles are the very best. :-)

Yes, our observant little one got all the other kids at her daycare serving "coffee" to each other. We were asked if we drank a lot of coffee at home. Uh...yeah.

She's so adorable. Cuddles from her must be the sweetest thing.

She is a sweet girl, but honestly I'm still stuck at the phrase "morning duty"!!! You are one lucky woman!

I'm with Ali... when did you start the Rogaine regimen? ;)

But seriously, I totally hear where you're coming from. I've been blessed with a little ball of affection. Since day one, she has loved to be held (to the point of creating sleeping problems... but I digress...) and cuddled and snuggled. And it just melts me every time. I'm glad you're getting some more lovin'.

Coffee. Heh. My baby follows me around with her pretend baking pan asking "Cupckake?" which is a bit MORE embarrassing, I think.

Good to hear she's being more affectionate.

Cordy was exactly the same way - she was always cold towards others when she was younger. After she turned two, she slowly warmed up to us, and now loves to sit between Aaron and I on the couch in the evenings. She even endures hugs and kisses without screaming or squirming away.

The hair is fabulous! I'm jealous. But I love the first picture too. So chic-looking. It's nice to finally get some bonafide demonstrative affection, no?

How wonderful...the feeling you get when they come as give you a hug is undescribable. It makes everything better.

My daughter now demands cuddle time. After dinner before bath she comes up to me puts up her arms and points to her bedroom where we have usually have cuddle time.

My Happy Boy isn't that affectionate, and so the unsolicited hugs are absolutely the best. I do get them more often, although he seems to be backing off lately.

He also has at least 10 or as many as 15 friends in his crib with him at any one time. We also want him to play on his own for a while!

Ah, nothing's better than baby-lovin's! I love the snuggling, and am becoming painfully aware that in a couple of years, she'll be getting to big to snuggle up like that. Sniff.

I love her scarf.

Isn't it cute when they have all their toys interact with one another? Rosie will have two dolls kiss or hug and say "Awwww..." :-)

She's adorable! My daughter doesn't really snuggle much either, except when she wakes up in the middle of the night and doesn't want to be put back to bed, then she's all about wrapping her arms around me and not letting go :)
